The Kalashtar are humans who serve as hosts to a group of spirits of which little is actually known. The spirits often make contracts with young children. Should the child agree, the spirit will make itself present in its new host, sharing control of the body equally with it.
A Kalashtar is unable to dream. However, they are sensitive to the dreams of others around them, often receiving glimpses of them as they occur. Between these visions and the duality of their mind, some Kalashtar become unstable, almost schizophrenic in a way.
The Kalashtar tend to be kind and compassionate, though are often reserved. They rarely worship any deity, instead following a central force of positive energy and believing that through meditation and communion, their bodies and minds will be strengthened.
